The NT ALP has a proud record of backing development, jobs and protecting the environment throughout our time in Government.
The NT ALP's fracking moratorium has been on the public record for years. It’s not new.
What is new is the record low price of a barrel of oil. Low resource prices are even affecting the mining sector with mines closing and jobs going. This is down to the global market.
There is time to consider the moratorium and to listen to and take Territorians along with us in the process -- something the CLP has not done.
We must get development right and protect thousands of jobs that already exist in the pastoral industry, agricultural industry, tourism industry and the fishing industry – all industries that have a connection to the intrinsic value of water.
This is an election year and Territorians can expect all sorts of scare tactics from the CLP.
