- Dale Wakefield
- Minister for Territory Families
- Minister for Renewables and Essential Services
Dale lives in Braitling with her partner Gary and son Jimmy.
Born in Melbourne, Dale’s parents Heather and John instilled a strong sense of the importance of family, community and social justice in her and her brother Matthew. She attended the local public schools and later went to Latrobe and Monash University to obtain a social work degree.
After working in road trauma rehabilitation for many years, Dale moved to Alice Springs in 2004 after accepting a job in the tristate region of remote Central Australia.
Dale has over 25 years’ experience in the health, disability and domestic violence sectors. She has worked in the private and public sector with significant leadership experience. Since being in the NT, she has been a member of the Alice Springs Health Governing Council and was Chairwoman and Board member of Central Australian Women’s Legal Service. She has represented the NT on several national bodies.
Over the last 8 years, she has led the Alice Springs Women’s Shelter to become a nationally recognised and award winning service. These achievements were recognised in the 2015 Telstra Business Women Awards, with Dale being named an NT finalist.
Dale is proud to be representing NT Labor in the seat of Braitling. Gary and Dale are committed to raising their son in Alice Springs and ensuring he grows up in a town that is thriving, fair and full of opportunities is one of the many reasons why Dale has chosen to run. She knows how remarkable the people of Alice Springs are and believes they deserve a local member who is committed to the electorate over the long term.
