Tony moved to the Territory in 1988 and first lived in Bakewell in 1999, before buying the family home there in 2006.
Tony began his career working as a Motor Mechanic before joining the Northern Territory Government, where he has worked in Correctional Services as a Prison Officer, including time as the Chief Prison Officer in Alice Springs. Tony has also worked in Youth services and the Court system in Community Services and Management and Leadership positions.
Tony currently works within the Alcohol and Other Drugs Program in the Department of Health, and has been instrumental in driving youth initiatives in traineeships and apprenticeships across the NT. Tony works on the frontline supporting families impacted by alcohol and other drugs and has experienced firsthand the diverse social and economic issues many Territorians face on a daily basis. Tony has a strong commitment to community development and community consultation work.
Tony holds Post Graduate qualifications in Management and Alcohol and other Drugs and is currently working towards his Bachelor of Psychology.
Tony is involved in coaching with the NTFL Juniors, and has previously played Rugby Union in Alice Springs. He also represented the Northern Territory in Boxing at the Arafura Games in 1993. Tony is a father of five, with all of his children born in the NT. Two of his children have strong ties to their Larrakia heritage in Darwin.
Tony believes every Territorian has the fundamental right to a “fair go”. A lifelong Labor supporter, Tony was inspired to get involved by Michael Gunner’s commitment to early childhood development and returning integrity to government.
Tony is looking forward to being part of a Labor team which is working in a professional and transparent manner with the community, towards a better place for all Territorians.
