Joel Bowden

 

Joel Bowden is the Member for Johnston. Elected in 2020, Joel was appointed Deputy Speaker and Chair of the Public Accounts Committee.

Joel is the Northern Territory’s Minister for Infrastructure, Planning and Logistics; Minister for Business and Jobs; Minister for Skills, Training and International Education; Minister for Tourism and Hospitality and Minister for Recreational Fishing.

Holding a Bachelor of Education, a Master of Business Administration and currently undertaking a Bachelor of Laws, Joel was the General Secretary at Unions NT and has previously worked with the NT Department of Tourism and Culture and AFLNT in addition to operating hospitality and property development businesses in Victoria.

Joel spent his early years in Alice Springs including two years in the small community of Ernabella before playing AFL for the Richmond Football Club from 1996 to 2009, where he play 265 games, was named All Australian in 2005 and 2006 and is a Hall of Fame member. 

Joel and his wife Katie have four children and are actively involved in the local community. A strong advocate for Territorians Joel is passionate about making the Territory the best place in Australia to live, work and visit.
