MARION SCRYMGOUR MP
FEDERAL MEMBER FOR LINGIARI

A re-elected Albanese Labor Government will put $1.15 million towards vital infrastructure upgrades for sport and recreation facilities in the West Arnhem Region.

This election commitment includes $375,000 for a refurbishment of the gym at the Jabiru swimming pool. This upgrade will include temperature control, improved ventilation, and the installation of accessible toilets, showers and changerooms.

Another $250,000 will go towards converting the pool’s sanitation system at the pool from liquid chlorine to a modern and safer saltwater chlorination system.

This announcement also includes $275,000 for a new fence and electronic scoreboard at Brockman Oval in Jabiru, and $250,000 for improved irrigation at Gunbalanya Oval.

The West Arnhem Regional Council has called for these upgrades, and Federal Labor has listened.

Consistent with past practice, election commitments will be delivered in line with Commonwealth Grants Rules and Principles.

Quotes attributable to Federal Member for Lingiari Marion Scrymgour:

“Sport brings people together, but we know that there are often limited sport and recreation facilities in our remote communities.

“These upgrades are much needed in the West Arnhem Region and will help local sports facilities keep up with increasing visitor numbers.”
